Honeycomb are delighted to be partnering with a highly reputable charity that are dedicated to stopping the harm, abuse, and exploitation of older people across the UK in the recruitment for a Community Response Officer, full time, remote at £24,575.

The Organisation:

Your Role:
This post will play a key role in shaping the charities response to meeting the needs of the vulnerable older population and their communities. This role is pivotal in helping establish information, advice and support services.
- Delivering services and supporting a team of volunteers
- Providing support from prevention through to recovery
- Helpline, supporting by taking calls and coordinating the local volunteer availability
- Giving advice and information to older people relating to support options and safer aging
- Assessing the nature of each call, providing the appropriate support in relation to their needs, explain safeguarding approaches to service users, making safeguarding referrals, liaising on behalf of service users who require such support
- Raising awareness of the Helpline service, communicating with the Fundraising team of potential funding sources
- Undertaking case work, working within the team to agree an appropriate triage of community-based referrals into the service, supporting with the handover of low risk clients and the clients who require ongoing support
- Create and update directory of local support agencies across the outlined areas
- Developing database of local signposting agencies
- Support the Community Response Coordinator with the development and operation of the new Community Hub in the outlined areas
- Work with local volunteering organisation to recruit volunteers
- Identify and provide information, reports, case studies and good news stories for newsletters, the website and media
- Regularly and proactively raising awareness of the abuse of older people, safely aging and the charities work in outlined areas by delivering presentations, attending meetings and engaging with stakeholders
Person Specification
- Experience supervising or supporting volunteers or staff including recruitment
- Ability to listen, analyse and provide advice in a person-centred way
- Strong organisation skills, ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong communication both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies
- Previous experience within project or event management desired
- Ability to handle challenging and emotional situations, dealing with these appropriately
- Experience of the challenges of a third sector role
