Honeycomb Jobs is delighted to be working with a highly credible UK charity in order to secure an experienced Fundraising and Income Generation Lead on a 1 year fixed term with extension subject to funding.

The Client - This UK-wide charity carries a mission whereby to 'end the harm, abuse and exploitation of older people'. With over 30 years' experience throughout the provision of services, this credible charity advocates by performing their duty to the legacy of its' service users and works to educate the wider public by promoting the prevention of harm via a fully manned helpline alongside wider support services.

The Role - Reporting to the CEO, duties will consist of but not be limited to the following:

Development and implementing innovative, multi-channel fundraising strategies, including major donors, grants, corporate partnerships, individual giving and legacies, and digital fundraising. Will be responsible for leading a small team of fundraisers, overseeing campaign planning, delivery, and target setting.

Main duties: Fulfil a range of deliverables of which include -

  • To liaise with the CEO to set, meet and monitor fundraising targets and budgets.
  • To generate income from major donors, trusts, foundations, and corporates by researching potential suitable funding partners, building relationships with them and identifying an ongoing pipeline of suitable funding programmes - ultimately building long-term funding relationships.
  • To develop and manage statutory funding applications, ensuring they meet required criteria and include compelling impact narratives.
  • To work alongside senior staff to develop and implement an individual giving and legacies programme for the charity to provide a steady income stream to supplement that from trusts, foundations and corporates.
  • To build and maintain relationships with major donors to support the charity's fundraising efforts.
  • To increase the charity's income from corporate partnerships and serve as the key point of contact for all corporate partners from an income generation perspective. This includes overseeing the work of the Community Fundraising Manager who will be developing events, campaigns, and fundraising targets for the Give An Hour Scheme.
  • To lead and manage a small team of fundraisers, ensuring effective planning and delivery of events, campaigns, and fundraising targets. Monitoring and developing the charity's use of offline/online fundraising and pipeline tools and where necessary make recommendations to Executive Team to develop our approach.
  • To monitor performance and ensure all requirements of grant agreements and contracts are fulfilled and fit for further scrutiny.
  • To produce reports for the CEO/DCEO, Board and Executive accordingly.
  • To lead on research for new trends and opportunities in fundraising and partnership generation and develop these external networks to benefit the charity.
  • To undertake a rolling programme of research and analysis into sources of funding most likely to support the organisation, including desk research on both warm and cold prospects using a variety of journals, national newspapers, resources and the internet.
  • To monitor and collate the fundraising objectives and budgets and report on performance against income and expenditure on a monthly basis to the CEO.
  • To attend fundraising or other charity events including events outside of normal core office hours.
  • To act as a member of the team and carry out any reasonable duties as requested.
  • The post holder will be expected to travel throughout the UK occasionally as required.
  • The post holder will be expected to work unsocial hours on occasions and be flexible with working pattern as and when required.
  • The post holder will be expected to regularly liaise with other Hourglass staff and volunteers throughout the UK.

The Person - The post-holder will be required to meet the following criterion prior to reaching the next stage of the campaign:

  • Strong understanding of digital fundraising trends, including social media campaigns and online giving platforms.
  • Proven experience of securing grants from trust, foundations and corporates to support charitable work in the region of £1m (all elements).
  • A strong understanding of finance, financial systems and how to analyse data to ensure it supports our narrative and donor profiles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to make a compelling case for support for the charities work across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and bids at the same time and to work to tight deadlines when needed.
  • An inspirational management style that ensures a small team has confidence in plans and approaches.
  • Excellent IT skills and confident using MS Office and presentation software.

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in the UK and to work some unsocial hours.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of working with and presenting to Board Directors/Trustees.
  • Experience of grant management systems and impact/performance management.
  • Experience of using online fundraising platforms, in particular Donorfy.
  • Experience of developing and running an individual giving programme.
  • Experience of securing National Lottery funds.
  • Experience of securing multi-year large trust grants in excess of £100k.
  • Experience developing and executing digital fundraising campaigns.
  • An ability to demonstrate a positive attitude to older people and a demonstrable interest in challenging abuse/neglect, coupled with an ability to deal appropriately with sensitive issues.
  • Experience of working for a charity that undertakes campaigning, influencing or policy work.
