The Role

The Grants Development Officer will join the Grants Team and play a key role in the assessment and management of funding programmes. The primary focus of the role is assessing applications to a community infrastructure fund, while also supporting applicants across additional grant schemes managed by the organisation. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with applicants, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance to applicants across grant programmes managed by the organisation.

  • Carry out eligibility checks and due diligence on grant applications.

  • Assess applications against scheme criteria in line with established assessment frameworks.

  • Produce detailed assessment reports, including funding recommendations and grant conditions.

  • Present assessments to Investment Decision Panels as required.

  • Prepare briefing notes and reports on events, engagement activity, and programme delivery.

  • Contribute to stakeholder reporting, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.

  • Identify, mitigate, and monitor financial, operational, and safeguarding risks across grant programmes.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, legislative, and programme requirements, including UK and EU legislation and funding body guidelines.

  • Ensure adherence to publicity and branding requirements for funded programmes.

The Person

Essential Criteria

  • Experience assessing or managing grant applications, funding programmes, or similar project-based initiatives.

  • Strong analytical and report-writing skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to interpret funding criteria, guidance, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.

  • High standard of professionalism, integrity, and accountability.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working within community development, public sector, or third-sector funding programmes.

  • Knowledge of grant compliance, risk management, or monitoring frameworks.

  • Experience presenting information or recommendations to panels or decision-making groups.
