Working Pattern:
- Monday-Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
- Friday: 9:00am - 4:30pm

Ards and North Down Borough Council is seeking a motivated and organised HR Advisor to join our Human Resources & Organisational Development team based in Bangor. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with HR administrative experience who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys supporting people, processes, and organisational improvement.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the delivery of effective HR services across the Council, ensuring employees and managers receive accurate advice, excellent customer service, and efficient administrative support.
The Role
As HR Advisor, you will:
- Provide comprehensive administrative support across HR & OD functions, including recruitment, training, employee relations, and HR systems.
- Maintain and update personnel files and HR system records, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data protection standards are maintained.
- Support recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies, coordinating assessments, preparing documentation, and processing pre-employment checks.
- Prepare reports, statistical returns, induction and probation documentation, and other HR correspondence.
- Function as a first point of contact for HR enquiries, providing information, guidance, and excellent customer service.
- Manage HR system tasks, including work patterns, leave calculations, service desk queries, and troubleshooting.
- Minute meetings, process invoices, administer absence documentation, and support payroll-related changes.
- Maintain training records, coordinate work experience placements, and contribute to wider HR & OD initiatives.
- Deputise for the Office Manager - HR & OD when required.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate:
- 5 GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent.
- At least 1 year's general administrative experience working in a Human Resources environment, including:
- Providing HR administrative support, including recruitment processes.
- Experience of providing generalist HR advice and signposting.
- Managing difficult situations in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Using HR computer software systems.
- Experience of minute taking in formal meetings.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office and related packages, particularly Word and Excel.
- Access to your own vehicle.
