Honeycomb is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and highly regarded law firm in Belfast to recruit a Part-Time Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established finance team and support a range of accounting and financial administration duties.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Working closely with the Senior Bookkeeper and Accountant, you will assist with the day-to-day financial operations of the firm, covering receipts, payments, purchase ledger, client ledgers and financial reporting.
The role will suit someone with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Monitoring bank accounts for incoming funds and notifying relevant fee-earners
-
Identifying electronic receipts, updating the lodgements book and preparing daily bank lodgements
-
Processing lodgement forms and accurately posting receipts to the accounting system
-
Completing daily transfers from client ledgers for bill payments
-
Updating the lodgements book and reconciling records against the accounting system
-
Processing daily cheque and electronic payment requests and ensuring transactions are recorded correctly

Ensuring payment requests comply with authorisation procedures, anti-money laundering requirements and cyber security protocols

Making authorised electronic payments through internet banking
-
Supporting the Senior Bookkeeper with credit control procedures
-
Assisting with the review and processing of fee invoices and ensuring disbursements are accurately recorded and billed

Allocating recorded time against fees billed and payments against outstanding invoices

Writing off approved irrecoverable time

Dealing with client ledger and financial queries

Receipting purchase invoices, recording approved charges and reconciling monthly creditor statements

Processing payments against authorised purchase invoices
-
Managing online accounts, including EJO, Landweb and Companies Registry searches

Managing authorised petty cash requests, reconciling the float and investigating discrepancies

Reviewing expense claims and processing payments for approved expenditure

Providing holiday and sickness cover for the Senior Bookkeeper

Assisting the Accountant with month-end and year-end reporting

Supporting the Accountant during Law Society inspections and external auditor inspections
