• Location: Various sites (travel required so the successful candidate needs to drive and have access to a car)
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Pay Rate: £21.78 per hour.

The Role

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in protecting the health and wellbeing of the public by ensuring compliance with food safety legislation and delivering high-quality regulatory services.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting routine food hygiene and food standards inspections in accordance with current legislation.
• Taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary to ensure compliance.
• Investigating food-related complaints and notifications of foodborne illness.
• Providing professional guidance, education, and practical advice to food businesses to promote best practice.
• Preparing accurate reports, maintaining detailed records, and supporting legal proceedings where required.
• Collaborating with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver an effective Environmental Health service.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A bachelor's degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, or an equivalent qualification that entitles you to membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
• Where applicable, successful completion of both the CIEH Practical Training and Professional Examinations.
• Exceptional knowledge of current food safety legislation and environmental health practices.
• Strong communication, investigative and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to manage a varied workload and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
• A professional, customer-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.

Essential Requirements

• A full, valid UK driving licence.
• Access to your own vehicle, as regular travel between multiple sites is an essential part of the role.
