The Company

Honeycomb is delighted to be working with a well-established public sector organisation in Belfast to recruit an HR Administrator to join its People and Culture team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a large and professional organisation, providing a high-quality HR administration service across a busy Employee Services function. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced HR professionals and support a wide range of HR processes, employee queries and organisational requirements.

The Role

Reporting to the HR Advisor, the successful candidate will provide professional and confidential administrative support across the HR function, helping to ensure HR processes, systems and employee records are maintained accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing HR administrative support across a busy Employee Services function.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, databases and HR information systems.

  • Supporting the administration of maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, flexible working, career breaks, leavers and other employee processes.

  • Supporting monthly HR and payroll administration, including preparing and checking payroll instructions.

  • Liaising with Payroll, IT and other internal departments regarding employee changes and HR information.

  • Administering and monitoring probationary review processes.

  • Managing annual leave queries and supporting annual leave administration.

  • Monitoring HR inboxes and responding to routine queries in a professional and timely manner.

  • Dealing with general HR enquiries, correspondence and telephone calls, escalating matters where appropriate.

  • Producing HR reports, statistics and management information as required.

  • Maintaining accurate electronic and manual filing systems in line with GDPR and records retention requirements.

  • Supporting recruitment activity, including candidate assessments and sourcing agency workers where required.

  • Providing support with HR meetings, including taking accurate notes and minutes.

  • Supporting HR events, training and other activities as required.

  • Assisting with the maintenance and improvement of HR information systems and processes.

  • Ensuring all confidential employee information is handled appropriately and in line with data protection requirements.

  • Providing a high level of internal and external customer service and taking ownership of queries through to resolution.

The Person

Essential Criteria

Applicants must have:

  • At least 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grades A*-C / 9-4, including English and Maths, and at least 1 year's experience working in a demanding office environment carrying out a range of business support tasks; or

  • At least 2 years' experience working in a demanding office environment carrying out a range of business support tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Experience of meeting the needs of both internal and external customers.

  • Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills, with excellent attention to detail.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide timely and accurate information.

  • The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Desirable Criteria

It would be advantageous to have:

  • Experience working within an HR administration function, particularly within a large, multi-site or multi-disciplinary organisation.

  • A HR qualification or experience of working towards a HR qualification.

  • Previous experience working within local government or the wider public sector.
