Honeycomb is assisting a public sector client with a Senior Officer Grade post 'Assistant Economic Development Officer'. 8months+ contract, excellent benefits, Bangor, Co.Down

The Client - This large organisation operates with a vast range of services. With a Directorate focus on 'Regeneration, Development & Planning', this client currently has an opening throughout the Economic Development Department. Excellent package re' competitive rota structure (36 hours per week hybrid with 33 days hol entitlement per annum & much more).

The Role - Reporting to the Business Development Executive, duties will include but not be limited to the following scope:

  • To assist with the implementation of the Economic Development Portfolio and to work with other stakeholders to have a co-ordinated approach the assigned catchment area.
  • To deputise for the Business Development Executive in her/his absence and assist the Economic Development Manager when required in matters relating to Economic Development.
  • To assist in the planning, management and delivery of designated economic development projects and programmes including researching the requirements of a CRM system and further developing the GIS mapping tool as a means to promote the area as a place to invest.
  • To facilitate requests regarding business accommodation and maintain and develop appropriate contacts with landowners, estate agents, government agencies and assist with correspondence and dealings with third parties, develop and maintain a register as appropriate.
  • To assist on work relating to servicing the business accommodation needs of businesses wishing to expand or to relocate to the borough and to establishing and supporting networks as appropriate to progress agreed related workstream.
  • To assist in the management of any relevant assigned budgets in identified projects, procuring using internal procedures and the submission of claims as required by funders.
  • To assist in the preparation of responses to relevant consultation documents and reports for council as required.

The Person

  • Level 3 qualification or equivalent within the areas of Business, Economics, Accounting or other relevant subject


  • Two years' relevant employment experience in economic development, enterprise development and/or planning
  • Experience of assisting with project management and/ or providing business support
  • Organising and prioritising a demanding workload
  • Collation of management information


  • Leading research related projects
  • Assisting in economic development projects within the fields of economic development, enterprise development and Foreign Direct Investment
  • Experience of working in a team.
