Honeycomb has partnered with a charitable organisation in the recruitment of a part time Community Engagement Officer (Horticultural Lead), 22.5 hr, based in Belfast at £24,716 pro rata.

What would a typical day look like for you?

If you are someone who loves to be hands on in a role, this is perfect for you! This role marries a few different qualities, some of the main responsibilities are outlined below. Your days will be diverse, working across 4 gardens and being adaptable with the weather and the seasons!

  • Developing and supporting on horticultural projects in NI
  • Providing practical support and site management
  • Delivering horticultural training programmes, ensuring all projects are undertaken in compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Proactively engaging and mentoring communities to promote long term sustainability
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders, developing through communication skills
  • Budget management, ensuring projects are delivering within expected budgets, timeframes and with the expected outputs
  • Ensuring project delivery in line with funding, publicity and reporting requirements
  • Completion of quarterly reports, managing own procurement and admin
  • Actively engaging in learning and development needs, evaluating training to demonstrate needs have been met
  • Sharing good practice, contributing to the success of projects and community goals

Person Specification

  • Ability to demonstrate Horticultural experience is essential
  • Ability to show experience of delivering (horticultural) training is desired
  • Show initiative in prioritising workload while under deadlines
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience completing tasks within tight timeframes, maintain strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in using IT systems, knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office packages
  • Hold a full driving licence, with access to a car for business purposes
