Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm (37 hours per week)
Hourly Rate: £17.41 per hour (£32,597 per annum equivalent)
Contract: Temporary for 3 months with potential for extension
About the Role
Ards and North Down Borough Council is seeking an organised and initiative-taking Information Governance Administrator to join its Information Governance team on a temporary full-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator with knowledge of information governance legislation to support the Council in managing information requests and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.
Working as part of the Information Governance team, you will assist in the administration and coordination of Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, while also supporting the handling of Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently, gathering information from a variety of departments, compiling accurate responses, and preparing them for approval before issue.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the administration of Freedom of Information requests in accordance with statutory timescales.
- Support the processing of Subject Access Requests (SARs) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) requests.
- Consult with departments across the Council to obtain relevant information.
- Collate, review, and prepare information for approval and release.
- Maintain accurate records and case management systems.
- Ensure all work is completed accurately and within strict legislative deadlines.
- Produce clear, concise, and professional written correspondence for a range of audiences.
- Provide administrative support to the Information Governance team as required.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must have:
- A degree-level qualification or a minimum of one year's experience working in an Information Governance, Data Protection, or similar role.
- A strong administrative background with excellent organisational skills.
- Knowledge or experience of one or more of the following:
- Freedom of Information legislation (FOI)
- UK GDPR and Data Protection
- Subject Access Requests (SARs)
- Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Experience of gathering, analysing, and presenting information accurately.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong IT and systems skills, with experience using Microsoft Office and electronic records or case management systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
Desirable
- Experience working within a local government or public sector environment.
- Experience using information governance or document management systems.
